Bomb threat on KLM flight to Tel Aviv leaves passengers in Bucharest
KLM flight KL461 got a bomb threat on Thursday. Everyone left the plane in Bucharest. It was cleared, but a technical fault then grounded it.
A KLM flight from Amsterdam to Tel Aviv, KL461, received a bomb threat on Thursday 5 November. All 52 passengers and 6 crew left the plane during a stop in Bucharest.
The plane was checked and cleared. A technical fault was then found before it could leave, and KLM cancelled the flight. Passengers were put up in hotels while KLM arranges other flights.
A wave of threats
The threat came during a wave of bomb threats against passenger flights in Europe this week. Airline association IATA calls them false threats and has asked European authorities to trace where they come from.
The Dutch National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV) says it does not know where the threats come from, and that it is impossible to stop such reports from being made.
Some security experts see threats like these as hybrid warfare, pressure short of open war, by some countries against European countries. No authority has said who is behind these threats.
