On this day On this day in 1957, Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh was born. Known for his provocative work, Van Gogh directed ‘Submission: Part 1′ with Ayaan Hirsi Ali, critiquing women’s treatment in Islam. Tragically, his life was cut short in 2004 by an Islamist extremist. His last film, ’06/05,’ explored the assassination of Pim Fortuyn and was released posthumously.
