The advised price for a litre of Euro 95, the standard petrol labelled E10 at the pump, fell to €2.485 on Thursday. That is 2.4 cents less than the day before and the lowest level since early July, according to consumer collective UnitedConsumers.

The average at the pump
The advised price is a national average that UnitedConsumers works out each day from the advised prices of the 5 largest oil companies. It says the price you pay at the pump can differ.
Statistics Netherlands (CBS) publishes a weighted average of pump prices, including VAT and excise duty, once a week. Its latest figure is for Monday 2 November: €2.284 for Euro 95 and €2.468 for diesel. That is a different measure from the advised price, for a different day, so the 2 cannot be compared exactly.
The CBS average for Euro 95 was €2.279 on 1 November. It had not been lower since 8 July.
Still above January
Fuel is still more expensive than at the start of the year. On 1 January the CBS average was €1.963 for Euro 95 and €1.734 for diesel. By Monday, petrol was 32 cents a litre higher, about 16%, and diesel 73 cents higher, about 42%.
At those averages, a 50-litre tank of petrol costs about €16 more than on 1 January.
This year’s peaks on the CBS figures were €2.466 for Euro 95, on 7 September, and €2.599 for diesel, on 8 April.
