Rotterdam Centraal mostly unreachable by train for 2 days

Rotterdam Centraal will be mostly unreachable by train on 13 and 14 June.

The disruption is caused by ProRail works on the train safety system around the station. Travellers should expect major delays and extra travel time of up to 60 minutes.

No trains will run between Rotterdam Centraal and Delft Campus, Gouda and Zwijndrecht. High speed line services between Rotterdam Centraal, Breda and Schiphol Airport will also be affected.

NS is advising travellers to use metro and replacement bus routes in several directions.

People travelling toward The Hague or Gouda can use the metro to Schiedam Centrum with a valid train ticket. From there, buses will run toward Delft Campus, where travellers can continue by bus or train.

People travelling toward Dordrecht can use metro lines A, B or C from Beurs to Capelsebrug. From there, NS will operate express buses to Dordrecht.

The works are part of a replacement of an older train protection system. Such systems are essential for safe train operations, but replacing them can require full closures around busy rail hubs.

Rotterdam Centraal is one of the most important stations in the Netherlands. It connects national trains, international routes, metro, tram and bus services. That makes even a weekend closure highly disruptive.
