On June 30, 1703, a Dutch force evaded a larger Bourbon army.

On this day On this day in 1703, the Battle of Ekeren unfolded during the War of the Spanish Succession. A Dutch force of 12,000 men was surrounded by 24,000 troops from France, Spain, and Cologne. Despite being outnumbered, the Dutch managed a daring breakout to safety.
