A team of students from TU Eindhoven, a leading technical university in the Netherlands, has developed a solar-powered ambulance. This innovative vehicle, named Stella Juva, can travel approximately 715 kilometers on a sunny day. It aims to reshape healthcare delivery in regions with limited resources by providing mobile medical services powered by renewable energy.

Stella Juva: A major shift in Medical Transport

The solar-powered ambulance is equipped with solar panels on its roof, allowing it to harness the sun’s energy to power its journey and medical equipment. This includes devices such as an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and a mobile X-ray unit. Designed specifically to operate in remote areas lacking fuel and electricity, the vehicle brings healthcare directly to those in need.

Yarno Basten, a member of Solar Team Eindhoven, explained the project’s goal: “The ambulance is intended to bring medical care to people in isolated regions rather than transporting patients to hospitals.” By doing so, it addresses a critical gap in healthcare access for communities far from conventional medical facilities.
