Five TEFAF robbery suspects added to Europe’s Most Wanted list
Dutch authorities link four men and one woman from Serbia to the 2022 Maastricht jewellery robbery and say extradition remains an obstacle.
Five suspects from Serbia were added to Europe’s Most Wanted list on 29 October over the 2022 jewellery robbery at the TEFAF art fair in Maastricht. Dutch investigators are seeking information about their whereabouts and travel movements.
The joint announcement by police and the Limburg Public Prosecution Office concerns four men and one woman. Authorities said all five had been internationally wanted since April 2026 and were also on the Dutch National Wanted List.
Why Serbia is central to the appeal
Investigators believe the suspects are in Serbia, most likely in Niš or the Belgrade area. In their 29 October statement, police and prosecutors described extradition from Serbia as an obstacle and said they hoped to secure arrests if the suspects travelled to another country.
That assessment explains the appeal for information about travel movements. The authorities presented their location as probable; they did not establish when or how the suspects had travelled to Serbia.
Police said the investigation had involved cooperation across several countries, with support from Europol and Eurojust.
The robbery and investigation
The robbery took place on 28 June 2022 at The European Fine Art Fair, which is held annually in Maastricht. According to police, the robbers smashed display cases, threatened people with firearms and stole jewellery worth about €40 million.
In the 29 October appeal, police named Aleksandar Cenic, Aleksandar Stojiljkovic, Dusko Dimitrijevic, Bratislav Stojanovic and Ninoslava Jovic. Jovic’s official wanted notice describes a suspected facilitating role.
Investigators also said information obtained through Europol linked at least one suspect to an earlier attempted robbery at the fair in March 2020. That suspicion is based on material from the encrypted Sky ECC messaging service.
Three diamonds from the 2022 haul had been traced, authorities said. One turned up in Botswana earlier in 2026; two others had previously been located in Hong Kong and Israel.
Reward and information
The Limburg Public Prosecution Office has offered a €20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. Police are seeking tips about the suspects’ whereabouts and movements.
