DGTL Festival is one of Amsterdam’s best-known electronic music festivals.

They are related, but they are not the same event.

Where is DGTL held?

DGTL and Amsterdam Dance Event are connected, but they are not the same thing.

DGTL ADE is DGTL’s own programme during ADE.

DGTL Amsterdam is the main DGTL festival, usually in spring, at NDSM Docklands.

So if someone says “DGTL”, ask which edition they mean. Spring DGTL and DGTL during ADE are different experiences.

How to get to NDSM Docklands

Most visitors travel to NDSM through Amsterdam Noord.

From Amsterdam Central Station, you can take a free ferry across the IJ to NDSM. From there, you walk to the festival area.

You can also reach Amsterdam Noord by bike, metro, bus, taxi or rideshare, depending on where you are staying.

On festival days, ferries and routes can be crowded. Leave more time than usual, especially if you want to catch a specific artist.

Do not assume you can arrive five minutes before a set and walk straight in.

Practical tips for visitors

DGTL is not the cheapest or most casual day out in Amsterdam. It is a serious electronic music event with a clear identity. The crowd comes for sound, design, atmosphere and the NDSM setting.

It is especially worth visiting if you enjoy techno, house, visual production and festivals that think about sustainability.

If you want pop headliners or a relaxed family festival, DGTL is probably not the right fit. If you want Amsterdam’s electronic scene on a larger stage, it is one of the best choices.
